April Nhor Perez was simply named after her birthmonth and oddly named after a very famous Filipino condiment called “KNORR cubes” that magically makes any dish tastier. True to her name, April comes across as precisely that, the combination of simple and very interesting.

The eldest of four sisters,  April, or Inday, as what her sisters fondly call her hails from the Philippines’ city of Smiles - Bacolod. Self-confessed little miss brightside, her charming cheerful nature always make her seem a decade younger than her age. 

“People are always surprised to know my real age. Inside our office, I get away with 18, but in the real world, I’m turning 27. Maybe its the petite frame, or the my babyface, it runs in the family”, she jokes.

Don’t be fooled by the youthful  exterior though, at work she is one lean mean all-in-one machine. April is currently working as an office admin for Sony Music Middle East, a much coveted role that landed on her lap four years ago, simply because she was at the right place at the right time and she impressed the head of the major record label by being her natural accomodating and witty self.

“I came to dubai four years ago on visit visa, just trying my luck. I started working in one of the electronic shops in the mall as a sales consultant for laptops. I was doing ok back then, starting out, earning my own money. Until one day, this lady came looking for a laptop and I assisted her as I always would any other customer. I answered all her questions and we got into a bit of chit chat.”

“I didn’t realize she was the director of Sony Music until at the end of our conversation, when she handed me her card and told me she was looking for an Admin to run their small office, and that if I was interested I should call her.”

April wasn’t even sure at the time if she should move but after a day, she came to realize that this was Sony Music, one of the biggest music labels in the world, and she has been a big music fan all of her life. So she jumped at the opportunity and made the call. From then on, her life went crazy beautiful.

“There had been many priceless moments, I got the chance the work in one of the biggest MUSIC label in the world…I got up close and personal with famous International artist.. like Beyonce, Usher, Chris Brown, The Script, HUrts, etc…but I have to admit, one of the most significant was meeting my first boyfriend here in Dubai…, shinare ko talaga noh?”, she muses candidly.

You meet people like April and you wonder how come some of us just seem to have it so light and easy, but what you don’t realize is that its actually the person who make it seem easy. Like a day in spring time or a happy summer song, April is one of those people you want to be around when you’re having a bad day. Armed with a gentle smile and infectious laughter, you can always count on her positivity to shine on no matter what.  She is the knorr cube that adds that magic zest to life.

On a final note, we asked her to define three things

Sister : Beautiful, Kind, MAKULIT, Loud, GOOD DAUGHTERS &SISTERS!

Love :  Love is Beautiful.

Pinay :  Pinay is ME (hehe). Strong,Tough, Smart Beautiful. I’m happy to be part of this makeover, its our first time to dress up and feels good to see myself and my sisters all looking gorgeous. Ganda mo teh!

Hey Sistahs!

Today, as we celebrate international women’s day, we pay tribute to our beautiful sisters and the beautiful bond that can only exist between Sisters. 

Whether biological or not, we all had them, throughout our lives. Those delightful, incredible women who have shared our journey with us, who have laughed, cried, whined with us, cheered us on, shielded us, fought with us but also fought for us. 

When you have a sister or a friend who is almost a sister, you have a friend for life. 

This month, on Pinay Makeover, we feature three beautiful girls, sisters, April, Aires and Phoebe Perez who hail from the city of smiles - Bacolod Philippines and now living their dreams in Dubai.

Each of them had a stand out character with a very distinct personality. They speak for each other, finish each others sentences, and reveal each others hidden quirks. You interview one, and you interview all. 

Our shoot was filled with their crazy jokes, hearty laughs and unforgettable one-liners. They say that sisters are parts of your childhood that never really goes away, and its true. A few hours spent with these girls made us all feel warm, young and carefree.
